Description
Eclimeter invented by the military engineer Jacopo Castriotto to measure the scarp-gradients of walls. The instrument is described by Daniele Barbaro, who transcribes a text by Castriotto himself in which he says that the instrument was fabricated in Paris for King Henry III.
