|descrizione= Strumento composto da due diottre graduate incrociate che assumono la forma di un doppio compasso di proporzione o di una doppia squadra zoppa. Su una delle gambe scorre un cursore sul quale è incernierato un braccio graduato trasversale munito di traguardi. Lo strumento serviva a misurare gli angoli interni ed esterni di un edificio, a costruire i poligoni regolari, a misurare altezze e distanze, e a compiere rilevamenti topografici.

Description

Instrument composed of two intersecting graduated diopters that take the shape of double proportional compasses or a double folding square. On one leg slides a cursor to which is hinged a graduated perpendicular vane with sights. The instrument served to measure the internal and external angles of a building, construct regular polygons, measure heights and distances, and conduct surveying work.
