Description

Carlo Teti describes another instrument for measuring heights, assigning it no specific name. It is composed of three rods, one of them thicker, 8 palms long, which is planted vertically in the ground during operation. Hinged to its top is the second rod, of the same length but not as thick, with the third rod (7 palms long) hinged to its other end. The second rod serves to sight a distant object while the third, which falls straight down, intersects another visual ray originating from the base of the first rod.
