Sector
Da Invenzioni.
Nome adottato o coniato dall'inventore per definire il suo compasso geometrico analogo alla squadra mobile. Il nome rimase in uso in Inghilterra fin dalla fine del XVI secolo per definire il compasso di proporzione.

Descrizione
Compasso di misurazione per operazioni aritmetiche e geometriche, per il calcolo delle grandezze inaccessibili e, soprattutto, per il rilevamento territoriale. I braccetti muniti di traguardi si muovono, come nella squadra mobile, su un semicerchio con la scala dei gradi. Il nome "sector" è diventato nel tempo sinonimo di compasso di proporzione.
